McIntyre Makes NHL Debut with Wild

MINNEAPOLIS -- David McIntyre, a former Colgate standout, made his National Hockey League (NHL) debut Monday as a member of the Minnesota Wild in the team's 3-1 victory over the Tampa Bay Lightning at the Xcel Energy Center.

Wearing jersey number 34, McIntyre saw 13 shifts of action totaling nine minutes, seven seconds of ice time. He recorded one shot on goal.

McIntyre joined the Wild Monday after being recalled from the Houston Aeros of the American Hockey League (AHL). In 20 games with Houston, McIntyre compiled seven goals and four assists. McIntyre was acquired by the Wild from New Jersey on June 16, 2011.

In 2010-11, McIntyre finished his first professional season with the Albany River Rats of the AHL, picking up 30 points on 12 goals and 18 assists in 78 games. His rookie season followed a standout four-year career at Colgate in which he totaled 131 points (56-75=131) in 151 contests and was a finalist for the 2009 Hobey Baker Award as a junior. His college accolades also included ECAC Hockey All-Academic Team honors, an ECAC Hockey First All-Star Team and NCAA East First All-American Team selection in 2009 and an ECAC Hockey Second All-Star team selection in 2010.

The Oakville, Ontario native was orginally a fifth round pick of Dallas (138th overall) in 2006, but had his rights traded to Anaheim, and then New Jersey.
