GLENDALE, ARIZ. - The Blues are in Phoenix to wrap up a two-game road trip before the Christmas holiday, but the news of the day happened in St. Louis.

Left winger Andy McDonald, who has been out since Oct. 13 with a concussion, skated at the team's practice facility today.

"Andy is at the point now where his doctors informed him that he can do some form of light exercise, and he just felt that instead of riding the bike or getting on the treadmill, he wanted to go for a light skate," Blues general manager Doug Armstrong said. "It's certainly a positive sign, but I don't want to get people too excited. There's still a long way to go before he's back in our lineup. But any improvement is good improvement and there has been improvement over the last eight weeks, where at least he's inducing some light exercise."
