Cox Remains with Aces

The 2011 Kelly Cup Champion Alaska Aces have re-signed rookie standout Ethan Cox, who played at Colgate, for the 2011-12 season, Aces Head Coach Rob Murray announced on Tuesday afternoon.

Cox, 24, returns to Alaska after a solid, first professional season. Cox embodied the Aces two-way system with 32 points (15g, 17a) in 56 games, while finishing second among all Aces players with a +21 rating. His 15 goals were one off the lead for all Alaska rookies. Cox added three goals and an assist in 13 playoff games. He impressed coaches at the next level as well, earning two separate call-ups to the American Hockey League with the Portland Pirates and Peoria Rivermen, where he combined for one assist in three games.

The 5'10", 190 lbs. center from Richmond, BC played four seasons of collegiate hockey for Colgate before turning pro. The senior co-captain was a two-time winner of Colgate's Best Defensive Player Award, and ended his career 7th on the University's all-time games played list with 150 contests.
