Confidence a Big Boost for Fredricks

ONTARIO - It's accepted wisdom that the transition from the amateur ranks to the professional game is more difficult than the transition from the minor leagues to the NHL.
For Reign defenseman Jason Fredricks, the success of his transition has depended on confidence.
Since arriving in Ontario in a trade with the Utah Grizzlies in January, Fredricks has gone from a third-pair defenseman to a regular in Karl Taylor's "shutdown pair" with Shawn Germain. The pair have regularly matched up against the opponent's top forward line, getting the lion's share of the minutes on the back end.
