Blue Jackets Could Go with Dekanich
The following article featuring former Colgate standout Mark Dekanich appeared July 11 on the CBC Sports Web site.
Vancouver native Mark Dekanich will be given every opportunity to win the backup job of the Columbus Blue Jackets, according to the club's general manager.
Scott Howson said in a blog he writes for the team's website that the Blue Jackets looked around at the veteran free agents that were available but decided Dekanich, 25, could fit the bill.
"Mark has been one of the top goaltenders in the AHL over the past three seasons and we think he is ready for this opportunity," said Howson.
