Colgate to Skate in Italy & Switzerland
HAMILTON, N.Y. – Before the start of the academic year and
preseason, the Colgate men's hockey team will embark on a 10-day
educational and athletic experience in northern Italy, Switzerland
and Rome. The Raiders will be playing three teams and visiting some
of the world's greatest destinations.
The trip begins in northern Italy on Friday, August 12, in Milan,
where the Raiders will tour the historic town of Como and the
villas of Lake Como. The first contest will come in Switzerland
against GDT Bellinzona, who plays in Liga, which is the third
division Swiss pro league.
After touring Lugano, Switzerland, and checking out Duomo di
Milano, which is a ninth century cathedral, and Castello Sforzesco
(14th century castle) in Milan, the team will head to Bassano Del
Grappa.
Following the trip, the Raiders will be playing a Challenge Cup
Series game against the Under-26 Italian National Team in Canazei,
which is in northeast Italy. On the next day, Colgate will be
playing their second game in the series in Asiago.
After their final game, the Raiders will take the trip south to
Rome for a couple of days of tours and site-seeing in one of the
world's greatest cities.
Throughout the entire trip, the team will have senior Kevin
