Boivin, Brown to Enter Colgate Hall of Honor

HAMILTON, N.Y. - Former Colgate standouts Rejean Boivin (’88) and Kurt Brown (’64) are among 13 new members selected for induction into the Colgate Athletics Hall of Honor on October 1, 2011. The Hall of Presidents will host the induction as the new members of the Class of 2011 are honored.

In 1988, Boivin was named among the 10 finalists for the Hobey Baker Award, given to the outstanding college hockey player in the nation and finished as a first team ECAC Division I all-star. He was Colgate's leading scorer for three times in his career and finished with 173 points (86 goals, 87 assists). As a senior Boivin scored 31 goals and recorded 21 assists for 52 points to become just the third player in Colgate history to score over 30 goals in a season.

Brown served as an alternate captain for the Raiders during the 1962-63 and 1963-64 seasons and recorded a 1.83 goals against average that was the best in all US Collegiate Hockey in the 1962-1963 season. Brown held the Colgate record for single season goals against average for 41 years and is ranked seventh in ECAC Hockey history. Brown still holds the career save percentage and single season save percentage records for Colgate with a .917 and .930 respectively. After Colgate, Brown attended training camp with the Providence Reds of the American Hockey League and eventually signed and played for the Dutch National Team in The Hague, Holland for the 1964-1965 season. Brown also lettered in baseball for three years while at Colgate.

Joining Boivin and Brown in the Class of 2011 are John Beyer, head coach men's and women's soccer; Pat Campolieta '02, men's basketball; Judy Culhane '00, volleyball; Doug Curtis '79, football; Corey Hill '99, football; Derek Laub '93, men's lacrosse; Kaitlyn Lynch '95, women's soccer; Kate Manzella '00, women's lacrosse; Melissa Rawson '03, softball; Katie Russo '95, field hockey; and Betsy Weisburgh '80, swimming.
