Colgate Confident Entering Series vs. RPI
The following article appeared in the March 3 issue of the Troy Record.
Colgate University allowed more goals than any ECAC Hockey team
in 2010-11. Doing so will often land a team in last place, which is
exactly where the Raiders finished with a 4-15-3 league record.
Against Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, however, Colgate seemed
to be a different team. While allowing 3.9 goals per game in their
other 20 ECACH games, the Raiders limited RPI to just one goal in
regulation time in both regular-season meetings. The visiting team
posted a 2-1 overtime victory in both games.
Several of the Raiders say the defensive success against the RPI
will supply them a measure of confidence when they come to meet the
fifth-seeded Engineers in a best-of-three ECACH preliminary-round
series this weekend.
