St. Pierre Bound for Czech Republic
HC Plzen (Czech Republic) announced the signing of former Colgate standout Nick St. Pierre. The agreement is for the 2010-11 season.
St. Pierre, a 6-foot-0, 185-pound defenseman, recently completed
his first professional season. The St. Etienne, Quebec native spent
the majority of the 2009-10 season in the East Coast Hockey League
(ECHL). In 45 ECHL games with Reading and Gwinnett, St. Pierre
scored six goals and 12 assists. He also appeared in 18 games in
the American Hockey League (AHL) -- five with the Syracuse Crunch
and 13 with the Norfolk Admirals. St. Pierre racked up six assists
in AHL competition.
St. Pierre made his professional debut at the end of the 2008-09
season with the Syracuse (AHL), appearing in 10 games with one
assist and eight penalty minutes following the conclusion of his
collegiate career. St. Pierre spent four years at Colgate, scoring
14 goals and 48 assists in 147 games. He was selected three times
as the team’s top defenseman and served as team captain in
2008-09 as a senior.
