Burton Parts Ways with Rosenheim

Less than one week after joining the Starbulls of Roseheim (Germany), former Colgate standout Tyler Burton has ended his relationship with the team because of re-occurring issues with his surgically repaired knee.

Rosenheim announced the signing of Burton to a one-year contract on August 2.

A native of Langley, British Columbia, Buron was sidelined for the 2009-10 season because of a knee injury. He signed with Hannover (Germany) prior to the 2009-10 campaign but managed to play in only one game before returning home to Canada after suffering a reoccurrance of his injury.

Burton split his rookie professional season (2008-09) between the Trenton Devils of the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) and Lowell Devils of the American Hockey League (AHL), skating in 27 combined games while scoring 19 points (10g-9a) and adding 18 penalty minutes while playing on an AHL contract with Lowell.

In 33 career pro games with Trenton and Lowell, the 5-foot-9, 180-pound center tallied 21 points (11g-10a) and 20 penalty minutes. He scored the first hat trick of his career November 29 against the Florida Everblades and recorded four multi-point games.

Burton enjoyed a decorated four-year (2004-08) college career at Colgate and exited as a leader in numerous categories. He ranked first on the program's all-time list for games played (158), sixth in goals (82) and tied for 16th in points (155) with current St. Louis Blues forward, Andy McDonald. Burton, who led the team in scoring for three of his four seasons as a Raider, led the conference as a 2007-08 senior with a career-high 41 points (23g-18) while leading the Raiders with 32 goals.
