Hobey Baker Candidates Include McIntyre
BOSTON, MASS. – Colgate’s David McIntyre (Pefferlaw,
Ont.) is one of 13 League standouts and 70 student-athletes overall
who are under consideration for phase one of fan balloting for the
2010 prestigious Hobey Baker Memorial Award, which is handed out to
the best player in the NCAA Division I ranks.
Fan balloting is open to the public starting today, Friday,
January 8 and will run through March 7. This year, fan balloting
will account for one percent of the total ballot in selecting the
2010 winner. Phase two of fan balloting will start March 19 once
the list of the 10 finalists for the award will be released.

Award
McIntyre, a 2009 first team All-American and ECAC Hockey
selection, was one of 10 finalists for last year’s Hobey
Baker Award. The senior has been named the ECAC Hockey Player of
the Week twice thus far this season. In 18 outings, McIntyre has
accrued 20 points on six goals and 14 assists in the 2009-2010
season. He ranks tied for 42nd in points per game (1.11 ppg) and is
tied for 19th in assists per game (0.78 apg) heading into games
played on January 8.
The 2010 Hobey Baker Award winner will be announced from a field
of three Hobey Hat Trick finalists on Friday, April 9 during the
Frozen Four Championships in Detroit. The announcement will be
televised live during prime time on ESPNU.
