Wilson Opts for Blue Jackets
COLUMBUS, OHIO – The Columbus Blue Jackets have signed former Colgate forward Kyle Wilson to a one-year, two-way NHL-American Hockey League contract, General Manager Scott Howson announced July 2. As is club policy, terms were not disclosed.
Wilson, 25, collected two assists and was +1 in two games with Washington this season. He made his NHL debut and had two assists at Colorado on December 15. He also had 24-29-53, 23 penalty minutes and was +17 in 77 games with Hershey, the Capitals’ AHL affiliate. He helped the Bears win back-to-back Calder Cup Championships, including adding 6-6-12 and four penalty minutes in 21 playoff games in 2009-10.
Minnesota's 12th pick, 272nd overall, in the 2004 Entry Draft, Wilson has registered 107-120-227, 108 penalty minutes and a cumulative plus/minus rating of +52 in 298 career AHL games. He has added 16-25-41 and 16 penalty minutes in 67 Calder Cup playoff games. Prior to his professional career, he tallied 46-55-101 and 72 penalty minutes in 139 games with Colgate of the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference from 2002-06.
