HAMILTON, N.Y. -- Playing its best hockey since the early stages
of the 2008-09 campaign, the Colgate men’s hockey team will
conclude its regular-season schedule by travelling to face Brown
(3-20-4/3-14-3) and 11th-ranked Yale (19-6-2/14-4-2) for Friday
evening and Sunday afternoon games respectively. The game versus
Yale will be broadcasted on ESPNU from Ingalls Rink.
Colgate, which is 10-16-6 on the season and 5-11-4 in league
action, is 3-1-1 in its last five games, including a thrilling
come-from-behind 2-1 overtime victory over Rensselaer on Senior
Night, last Saturday evening at Starr Rink. The Raiders, who stand
10th in the league standings, could mathematically move up one spot
with a pair of wins and two Clarkson losses. Colgate wins a
tiebreaker over the Golden Knights since it went 1-0-1 against them
this year. Clarkson finishes at Rensselaer and Union.
Last weekend, Colgate posted three of four possible points to
overtake Rensselaer in the standings by one point. The Raiders
overcame two deficits and rallied to post a 2-2 tie with Union as
Austin Smith (Dallas, Texas) posted the game tying goal with 35
seconds left in regulation. The following night, seven graduating
seniors were sent out with a victory in their last appearance at
Starr Rink as David McIntyre (Pefferlaw, Ont.) provided both goals,
including his third overtime goal of his career with 1:01
remaining, in the 2-1 win over the Engineers.
