Cox, Colgate to Hold Food and Toy Drvie
HAMILTON, N.Y. – Colgate’s Ethan Cox (Richmond,
B.C.) is once again spearheading an effort to spread good holiday
cheer to several families in the immediate area and throughout
Madison County.
Saturday evening, November 21 versus nationally ranked Princeton,
fans will have an opportunity to bring either canned food or toys
and receive a general admission ticket to the Raiders’ game
with the Bobcats. Considering next weekend’s games will be
the last home games played at Starr Rink until January, the annual
canned food and toy drives have been combined into one. Fans must
bring one toy, or two canned food items in order to receive the
complimentary ticket.
Canned food items will help replenish the stock at the Hamilton
Food Cupboard, while the toys will be handed over to the Interfaith
Holiday Council, which will then disperse the items to families
within the Madison County limits.
Recently, Price Chopper has decided to climb aboard with Colgate
hockey to help provide families in need of some holiday cheer, as
it will donate $200 worth of canned food to the cause.
“We want to thank Price Chopper for this thoughtful donation
and the support of the food/toy drive that we are hosting before
our men’s hockey game on November 21,” said Colgate
Assistant Athletic Director Shaun Richard. “With Thanksgiving
right around the corner, we felt the need to give back to our local
food banks and with the help of Price Chopper, we feel this is a
great help in achieving our goal.”
Last year, the food and toy drives, which were held on separate
weekends, collected over $1,000 in cash; 350 pounds of food and 200
toys that went to the Hamilton Food Cupboard and the Interfaith
Holiday Council. The end results greatly exceeded the previous
year’s efforts.
