Fredricks Signs Amateur Tryout with Providence
PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Colgate's Jason Fredricks (Eagle River, Wisc.) signed an amateur tryout agreement with the Providence Bruins of the American Hockey League, it was recently announced by the organization.
Fredricks' signing marks the second former 2008-09 Colgate senior to join an AHL team with an amateur tryout agreement. Earlier, fellow defenseman Nick St. Pierre (St. Etienne, Que.) signed with the Syracuse Crunch.
As a senior, Fredricks posted five goals and a season-best 16 points for the Raiders. On January 8, 2009, he netted his first two-goal performance at Colgate to help lead the Raiders back from a two-goal deficit en route to a 5-4 overtime victory over Lake Superior State at Starr Rink. Fredricks finished his career playing 149 games at Colgate, which ranks fifth on the all-time charts. He accumulated 10 goals and 31 assists in his outings as a Raider.
