McIntyre Candidate for Lowe's Senior CLASS Award Nominee

OVERLAND PARK, KS -- Colgate’s David McIntyre (Pefferlaw, Ont.) has been named as one of 20 student-athletes up for consideration for the 2010 Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award for men’s hockey, it was announced Wednesday.

To be eligible for the award, the student-athlete must be a senior and have possessed excellence in the classroom, as well as having demonstrated high character, community service, and competition.

McIntyre, a preseason first team all-ECAC Hockey selection as well as a first team all-American by Inside College Hockey and College Hockey News, posted 21 goals and 22 assists in the 2008-09 season en route to garnering numerous postseason awards among which included being a finalist for the Hobey Baker Memorial Award and a first team ACHA/Reebok all-American honoree.

This year’s class includes two preseason INCH All-Americans, two returning ACHA All-Americans from last year as well as eight candidates from teams ranked in the preseason USA Today/USA Hockey poll. The list of candidates will be trimmed to 10 midway through the regular season and those names will be put the final ballot. Media, coaches, and fans will determine the student-athlete that best exemplifies the qualities of classroom, character, community, and competition. The Award will be handed out at the 2010 Frozen Four in April.
