McIntyre Candidate for Lowe's Senior CLASS Award Nominee
OVERLAND PARK, KS -- Colgate’s David McIntyre (Pefferlaw,
Ont.) has been named as one of 20 student-athletes up for
consideration for the 2010 Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award for
men’s hockey, it was announced Wednesday.
To be eligible for the award, the student-athlete must be a senior
and have possessed excellence in the classroom, as well as having
demonstrated high character, community service, and
competition.
McIntyre, a preseason first team all-ECAC Hockey selection as well
as a first team all-American by Inside College Hockey and College
Hockey News, posted 21 goals and 22 assists in the 2008-09 season
en route to garnering numerous postseason awards among which
included being a finalist for the Hobey Baker Memorial Award and a
first team ACHA/Reebok all-American honoree.
This year’s class includes two preseason INCH All-Americans,
two returning ACHA All-Americans from last year as well as eight
candidates from teams ranked in the preseason USA Today/USA Hockey
poll. The list of candidates will be trimmed to 10 midway through
the regular season and those names will be put the final ballot.
Media, coaches, and fans will determine the student-athlete that
best exemplifies the qualities of classroom, character, community,
and competition. The Award will be handed out at the 2010 Frozen
Four in April.
