Dekanich Named to Lowe's Senior CLASS All-America First Team
DENVER -- Colgate senior goaltender Mark Dekanich (North
Vancouver, B.C.) was named to the Lowe's Senior CLASS All-America
first team at the NCAA Frozen Four in Denver on Thursday, April 10.
A finalist for the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award, Dekanich is one of
five finalists selected to the All-Senior All-America first
team.
Dekanich finished his Raider career after breaking five of the
team's seven career goaltending records, as well as five
single-season records. In early February, Dekanich put together a
shutout streak of 217:16, which ranks seventh in NCAA history and
is a new Colgate and ECAC Hockey record. He finished the 2007-08
season with a 2.16 goals against average and .924 save percentage,
both of which ranked second in the league and 13th in the
nation.
Dekanich is joined on the All-America first team by Lowe's Senior
CLASS Award winner Landis Stankievich of Princeton, as well
as Bryce Hollweg of Army, Peter Mannino of Denver, and Marty
Mjelleli of St. Cloud State.
A 2006 fifth-round selection of the Nashville Predators, Dekanich
signed an amateur tryout agreement (ATO) with the club's AHL
affiliate in Milwaukee at the conclusion of Colgate's season. He is
spending a week with the Admirals, but will return to campus to
complete the semester, and will graduate in May.
