Colgate Players Share Floor with Elementary Students
HAMILTON, N.Y. -- Six members of the Colgate men's hockey team
visited two physical education classes at Sherburne-Earlville
Elementary School on the morning of Thursday, Oct. 11. The Raiders
answered the childrens' questions about hockey, handed out tickets
to their home games against Sacred Heart and RIT, and played floor
hockey with the kids.
Seniors Tyler Burton (Langley, B.C.) and Matt Torti (Oxford,
Mass.), junior Tom Riley (Ottawa, Ont.), and sophomores Ethan Cox
(Richmond, B.C.), David McIntyre (Pefferlaw, Ont.) and Jason
Williams (Plattsburgh, N.Y.) visited with two third-grade classes
for more than an hour. At the end of each class, the players
quizzed the children on what they had learned about hockey, and the
children who provided the correct answer for each question received
a 2007-08 Colgate hockey media guide. Each child received a
schedule card, and a pair of tickets to Colgate's home games
against Sacred Heart and RIT.
The Raiders' season-opener is on Friday, Oct. 12, against Sacred
Heart, and they take on RIT on Saturday. Both games begin at 7:00
p.m., and the first 150 fans through the doors will receive a free
Colgate hockey travel mug. Tickets to both games may be purchased
by calling the Colgate ticket office at (315) 228-7600.
