Jones Gets Feel of North Country Rivalry

POTSDAM — When Casey Jones was hired as Clarkson’s coach last spring one of the first questions he was asked was the victory margin of the first St. Lawrence University game.
Jones, who spent two years at Clarkson in the 1990s as an assistant coach, was expecting the question and knows what this week means to people in Potsdam and Canton as the rival schools meet for the final time in the regular season at 7 p.m. Saturday at Cheel Arena.
“The fact that (the schools) are only 10 miles apart is a big point,” Jones said of the rivalry. “It’s so close together. You are really looking forward to it. People start talking about it as soon as the week begins. The players look forward to it. The rink is packed.
