Zalewski Summoned to New Jersey
The Albany Devils were a couple of hours into their bus trip to Norfolk Wednesday when the Yankee Trails Charter pulled into a rest stop on the New Jersey Turnpike and let off former Clarkson standout Steve Zalewski, who was recalled by New Jersey.
Zalewski was shuttled to Prudential Center to join the NHL Devils before their 7:30 p.m. contest. He did not appear in the game, but did take warm-ups.
“I packed just for a weekend trip down to Norfolk, so that’s all I have,” said Zalewski. “And I packed for 50- to 60-degree weather, I estimated, not the 20-degree weather we’ve got out there.”
A native of Utica, N.Y., Zalewski leads Albany with 21 points, including a team-leading nine goals. He was acquired by New Jersey on Feb. 9, 2011 along with Jay Leach from San Jose.
