Pizzo, Rufenach Join Professional Ranks

Clarkson defensemen Tom Pizzo and Bryan Rufenach have joined classmates Scott Freeman (Victoria, ECHL) and Brandon DeFazio (Wheeling, ECHL) in professional hockey.

Pizzo signed with the Central Hockey League's Texas Brahmas, a team based in Fort Worth. Rufenach has already played in three games for the Toledo Walleye of the East Coast Hockey League.

Pizzo will be joining the Brahmas in time for a playoff series against the Odessa Jackalopes. Former St. Lawrence forward Alex Curran is also on Texas.

Pizzo, a Rochester native, played in 93 games at Clarkson and had four goals and seven assists. He competed in 24 games this past season and had one goal and three assists.

Rufenach signed with Toledo on March 25 and has one goal and one assist. A native of Barrie, Ontario, Rufenach played in 33 games last season for Clarkson and scored four goals with seven assists. He played in 136 career games with 21 goals and 34 assists.
