Lipsett Garners Weekly Award
TEMPE, AZ -The Central Hockey League announced today that Dayton forward Chris Lipsett, a former Clarkson standout, has been named the Oakley Central Hockey League Player of the Week for the period ending March 27, 2011 (the final week of the CHL's regular season).
Lipsett helped his team to two big wins over the Quad City Mallards in front of two of the largest crowds of the season for the Gems. On Saturday, the veteran scored a hat trick in front of 5,198 fans (the biggest crowd of the season for Dayton) helping his team to a 6-2 win. On Friday night, Lipsett scored a goal and assisted on the game winning goal in the Gems 3-2 win over Quad City and earlier in the week, although his team fell 1-0 in Fort Wayne, the Brandon, Manitoba native led his team with six shots on goal.
On the season, the 6-0, 187-pound forward has more than a point a game scoring 22 goals with 27 assists in 42 games played. He also has a team-high +14 plus/minus. Lipsett will lead the Gems into the post-season to face the Rapid City Rush in a best-of-five Opening Round series that begins Friday night in South Dakota.
