The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins open training camp this morning at the Ice Rink at Coal Street, but one player on the roster has already made a preseason impression.

Coming off a strong showing at the Oshawa rookie tournament and the early part of NHL camp in Pittsburgh, Brandon DeFazio, a first-year pro out of Clarkson University, is now a legitimate candidate to make the AHL opening-night roster where he might not have been three weeks ago.

"You don't want to say where you're going to pencil yourself in. You control the controllables," DeFazio said. "For me, I don't know where I'm going to be, but wherever I am, I'm going to work hard."
