Going to the Weller

Shawn Weller was looking to maintain his status as a regular in the American Hockey League, so when the Manitoba Moose came calling early in free agency, he felt he couldn’t really say no.

Weller, 24, split last season between the ECHL and the Abbotsford Heat after spending much of the first two years of his pro hockey career with the Binghamton Senators.

“They showed interest right away and you always want to go where you feel wanted,” said Weller, who was in action against his former team, the Heat, on Friday night at MTS Centre.
