You have to give Binghamton Senators head coach Kurt Kleinendorst credit for his dishonesty. At least he's up front about the tried and true playoff practice of hiding injuries.
"I'll be real honest with you: Everybody has got the flu, so you can take that and run with it," Kleinendorst said with a wide smile when asked about injuries to centre Corey Locke and defencemen Derek Smith and David Hale following Sunday's American Hockey League playoff game against the Manchester Monarchs. "If it's an ankle, it's the flu, OK? We've got the flu ravaging the locker-room right now."
Locke, who was officially presented with the AHL player of the year award before Sunday's game, is believed to have an injured shoulder. He practised on Monday, but Kleinendorst said there was no update on either him or Smith.
