GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Grand Rapids Griffins on Tuesday announced the signing of former Clarkson defenseman Bryan Rufenach to a standard AHL player’s contract.

Rufenach, 22, was the Detroit Red Wings’ seventh-round selection (208th overall) in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft. He recorded 11 points (4-7—11) in 33 games at Clarkson in 2010-11 before joining the ECHL’s Toledo Walleye for six games, where he notched his first two professional points (1-1—2).

The Cameron, Ontario, native skated in 136 contests during his collegiate career, recording 55 points (21-34—55). He led all Clarkson defensemen in scoring as a sophomore and junior, and he tied for the team lead in that department last season.
