Amerks goaltender David Leggio has stopped shots all over the world but is now only a one-hour drive and one call-up away from playing for his hometown team in the NHL.

The Williamsville native, who went undrafted out of Clarkson and made stops in the ECHL, Finland and with Team USA before catching on with the Sabres organization, sat down for a Q&A this week:

Were you a Sabres fan growing up?

I was a huge Sabres fan growing up, diehard even. When I was 5, my dad had season tickets to the old Auditorium. We sat up in the oranges and it was pretty cool going to games. Even last night it was nice to see Dale Hawerchuk and Rick Jeanneret (Sabres play-by-play announcer) get inducted into the team's hall of fame. He was always who I listened to watching the games and it's been fun to get to know him a little bit. I put him on my helmet this year. It's pretty cool to be part of the team that you grew up rooting for.
