BUFFALO, N.Y. – Less than a week after the Sabres waived local hero Tim Kennedy, the team has inked goalie David Leggio, a native of nearby Williamsville, to a one-year deal.
Stephen Bartlett, Leggio’s agent, confirmed the signing Sunday. The 26-year-old will likely play behind prospect Jhonas Enroth in AHL Portland.
Leggio spent last season in Finland, where he backstopped TPS to the SM-liiga championship, posting a 1.57 goals-against average and .952 save percentage in seven postseason tilts. He had a 2.93 goals-against average and a .900 save percentage in 30 regular-season games.
