One popular thought is that the best way to get over a bad loss is to get right back out and play the next game. The same can be true of moving on from a difficult season, the best remedy is to get the next year underway.
For Clarkson, both of those theories were tested in the first weekend of the season, and the Golden Knights proved that this year’s team is turning the page and is building toward a big year in the 2010-11 campaign.
Clarkson’s first game, a humbling 8-0 defeat at Nebraska-Omaha could have elicited thoughts of “here we go again,” but instead the Golden Knights bounced back the next game with a 6-2 win over nationally-ranked St. Cloud State. Even that game came with adversity. After Clarkson took a 4-0 lead, St. Cloud State scored two goals in 35 seconds and went on a power play soon after. Clarkson responded with a solid third period and went on to get a big win.
