With a disappointing month of January behind it, the Clarkson
University Hockey team will look to turn its season around and gain
some momentum for the playoffs over the final eight games of the
regular season. The Golden Knights close out a four-game road trip
this weekend in New York’s Capital District region with ECAC
Hockey games at Union and Rensselaer.
Guided by seventh-year head coach George Roll, associate coach
Greg Drechsel and new assistant coach Chris Rogles ’93, the
Green and Gold play the Dutchmen in a 7:00 p.m. game at Achilles
Rink in Schenectady on Friday. The Union game will be televised by
Time Warner Cable and be shown live on the NHL Network. On
Saturday, Clarkson faces off against the Engineers at Houston Field
House in Troy beginning at 7:00 p.m.
During the opening month of the New Year, the Knights went 1-7-1.
Clarkson has lost six straight and is winless in its last seven
games. This past weekend in Central NY, the Knights lost 6-1 at
Colgate and 5-3 at Cornell. Clarkson owns a 5-18-3 overall record
and is in 12th place in the conference standings with a 1-11-2 ECAC
Hockey mark. Clarkson’s last victory was a 3-1 non-league
over Alabama-Huntsville on January 8 at Cheel Arena. The
Knights’ lone league victory was a 3-2 triumph at Dartmouth
on November 20. The Green and Gold also gained conference points
with a 2-2 tie at Harvard (11/21) and a 3-3 draw at St. Lawrence
(12/4).
