For the Calgary Herald
He’s as healthy as he’s been all season long, but
there aren’t enough games left in this NHL season for Craig
Conroy to achieve a coveted personal goal.
Conroy, the veteran Calgary Flame, has battled numerous injuries
this season and, with each missed game, so will he miss the
opportunity to reach the 1,000-game plateau. He sits at 973 and
with 20 games remaining, well, you do the math.
“Like I always said, I was happy to play my first game in
Montreal. That could have been it,’’ chuckled Conroy, a
1990 sixth-round draft pick of the Canadiens who played in his
first NHL game during the 1994-95 campaign. “I didn’t
know if I would play one or 25 and even to be over 900 now is
pretty special. I appreciate it. I come in here and do have a lot
of fun.
