Conroy Can't Wait for Flames' Stretch Run

He’s as healthy as he’s been all season long, but there aren’t enough games left in this NHL season for Craig Conroy to achieve a coveted personal goal.

Conroy, the veteran Calgary Flame, has battled numerous injuries this season and, with each missed game, so will he miss the opportunity to reach the 1,000-game plateau. He sits at 973 and with 20 games remaining, well, you do the math.

“Like I always said, I was happy to play my first game in Montreal. That could have been it,’’ chuckled Conroy, a 1990 sixth-round draft pick of the Canadiens who played in his first NHL game during the 1994-95 campaign. “I didn’t know if I would play one or 25 and even to be over 900 now is pretty special. I appreciate it. I come in here and do have a lot of fun.
