Columbus Acquires Clark
COLUMBUS, OHIO – The Columbus Blue Jackets have acquired
former Clarkson forward Chris Clark and defenseman Milan Jurcina
from the Washington Capitals in exchange for forward Jason Chimera,
club General Manager Scott Howson announced December 28. The
transaction is pending the completion of player physicals.
"We are pleased to add Chris Clark and Milan Jurcina to our hockey
club. Both are veteran players who we believe will contribute
significantly to our team," said Howson. "We'd also like to thank
Jason Chimera for his contributions to the Blue Jackets
organization both on and off the ice over the past four-plus
seasons."
Clark, 33, has registered 95-99-194 and 641 penalty minutes in 518
career NHL games with Washington and the Calgary Flames. The
6-foot-1, 196-pound native of South Windsor, Connecticut has
appeared in 38 games this season, collecting 4-11-15 and 27 penalty
minutes. Prior to missing most of the 2007-08 and 2008-09 seasons
due to injury, he posted 20-19-39 and 110 penalty minutes in 78
games in 2005-06 and a career-high 30-24-54 and 66 penalty minutes
in 74 games in 2006-07 with the Capitals.
Calgary’s third pick, 77th overall, in the 1994 Entry Draft,
Clark earned All-ECAC honors during four seasons at Clarkson
University from 1994-98. He spent six seasons in the Flames
organization from 1998-04, including 2003-04 when he collected
10-15-25 and 106 penalty minutes in 82 games and added 3-3-6 and 30
penalty minutes in 26 playoff games to help the Flames reach the
Stanley Cup Final.
