Resuming ECAC Hockey play with consecutive wins for the first
time this season, the Clarkson University Hockey team hopes its
first weekend sweep on the road in over two years will act as a
catalyst for a strong second half showing. Guided by sixth-year
head coach George Roll, associate coach Greg Drechsel and assistant
coach Jean-Francois Houle, the Golden Knights own a 5-13-4 overall
record and are in 10th place in the conference standings owning a
3-6-1 league slate with 12 regular-season games remaining.
Led by senior co-captains Phil Paquet (Quebec City, QUE) and
Tyrell Mason (Dawson Creek, BC), Clarkson opens a four-game home
stand at Cheel Arena this weekend hosting Union and Rensselaer in a
pair of 7:00 p.m. contests.
This past weekend, Clarkson overcame 3-1 deficits early in the
third period to post 4-3 come-from-behind victories at both Yale
and Brown to get in the win column in league play for the first
time since early November. On Friday in New Haven, CT, theECAC
Hockey Player of the Week - Shea Guthrie Green and Gold scored
three times in a 3:10 span in the final period at Yale to snap a
three-game losing slide, while also presenting Roll his 100th
career coaching victory at Clarkson. It took the Knights a little
bit longer on Saturday to complete their comeback, but in similar
fashion, Clarkson staged a late rally to gain an overtime triumph
over Brown in Providence, RI.
