Weller to Wear 'C' for Condors
BAKERSFIELD, Calif - The Bakersfield Condors have announced that
former Clarkson standout Shawn Weller has been named captain of the
team for the 2009-10 season.
Weller, 23, made his Condors debut last Saturday, notching a hat
trick in a 5-3 preseason win over Stockton. A 6-foot, 205-pound
native of Glens Falls, New York, Weller was acquired in the
off-season by the Ducks in a trade with Ottawa, who drafted him in
the 3rd round in 2006. At 6-2 and 205 pounds, Weller spent most of
last season in the AHL with Binghamton, (70gp, 4g-5a-9pts) and also
played briefly in the ECHL with Elmira (4gp, 1g-1a-2pts). He played
three seasons at Clarkson University in the ECAC where he led his
team in scoring in 2006-07.
The alternate captains for the 2009-10 season are LW Mathieu
Aubin, D Stu Bickel, D Shaun Fisher, F Andrew Ianiero and D Eric
Regan. The alternates will be rotated between the five players
throughout the season.
