Too Little, Too Late for '08-09 Knights

In many ways the final game of the 2008-09 Clarkson University men's hockey season summed up the entire year.

The Golden Knights went into the second game of a first-round ECAC Hockey Tournament series at Union College last week shorthanded, with co-captains Phil Paquet and Tyrell Mason both out with injuries. The team got off to a bad start — falling behind 3-0 after one period — had a late rally, but came up short and lost 7-2.

Before the season began, back in early October, Clarkson was already experiencing injury problems. Senior assistant captain Shea Guthrie had a cast on his wrist before the team had even held its first official practice and wound up missing four games.
