TERRACE — As a healthy scratch Monday, Canuck defenceman
Willie Mitchell had ample time to hold court with reporters at the
Terrace Sportsplex. He didn't let anyone down.
Mitchell noted that Terrace winning the Hockeyville contest struck
a familiar chord with him. When he was a young lad growing up in
the northern Vancouver Island town of Port McNeill, he once entered
a write-in contest sponsored by the Canucks.
"I forget exactly what we had to write about... just how we were
passionate Canuck hockey fans and stuff like that," Mitchell said.
"So I wrote in and I was a lucky winner. I won a Canucks'
autographed stick. But I only got a stick. Terrace got a team. I'm
a little jealous."
