Mitchell Opts for Optional Skates

If Willie Mitchell isn't taking part in an optional morning skate on a game day, it can only mean one of two things: Upper-body injury or lower-body injury.

Rare is the day he skips an optional game-day skate, Monday at Los Angeles being an exception because the team's hotel was a bus ride of an hour or more away from the Staples Center.

"I didn't feel good the first period, the first period-and-a-half," Mitchell said of Monday's 3-2 loss to L.A. "I found my groove after that.
