Team Notes: Clarkson Looks to Gain Momentum in League Play

ECAC Hockey play resumes in full force for the Clarkson
University Hockey team, which plays all of the 14 remaining regular
season games in league action. The Golden Knights, guided by
sixth-year head coach George Roll, associate coach Greg Drechsel
and assistant coach Jean-Francois Houle, begin their bid to move
out of the bottom of the conference standings when they travel to
New England this weekend, Clarkson plays Yale at Ingalls Rink in
New Haven, CT on Friday night, at 7:00 p.m., and Brown at Meehan
Auditorium in Providence, RI on Saturday afternoon at, 4:00
p.m.
Clarkson, which has lost three straight non-league games, owns a
3-13-4 overall record.The Knights are in 12th place in ECAC Hockey,
four points out of eighth place, with a 1-6-1 conference mark. The
Green and Gold’s last league game was a 3-3 tie on the road
against Colgate on December 6.
After opening the new year with its second highest goal output of
the season in the January 2nd 4-2 win over then #2-ranked Miami,
Clarkson has totaled just two goals in the past three games. The
Knights dropped a pair of non-league contests to arch-rival St.
Lawrence in a home-and-home North Country series this past weekend.
On Saturday, the Saints took it to Clarkson 5-1. On Sunday
afternoon in a game televised nationally on ESPNU from Cheel Arena,
St. Lawrence edged the Knights 2-1.
