Leggio Earns ECHL Weekly Honor

PRINCETON, N.J. - Florida Everblades rookie goaltender David Leggio, a former Clarkson standout, is the Reebok ECHL Goaltender of the Week for Mar. 30-Apr. 4.

It is the second time that he has received the award, having won it for Jan. 12-18 when he was 3-0-0 with a shutout, a goals-against average of 1.67 and a save percentage of .933.

The 24 year old was 3-0-0 with a goals-against average of 1.33 and a save percentage of .959 to extend his winning streak to five games while helping the Everblades go 4-0-0 and extend their winning streak to eight games.

He is 5-0-0 with a goals-against average of 1.78 and a save percentage of .940 in his last five starts and 10-1-2 with a goals-against average of 2.05 and save percentage of .921 in his last 13 games.

Leggio, who is under contract to Albany of the American Hockey League, is 27-7-3 and leads the ECHL with a goals-against average of 2.26 while his four shutouts tie him for third. He was the winning goaltender for the American Conference in the All-Star Game after stopping 10 of 11 shots in the second period.

He played the last four years at Clarkson University where he was 59-29-12 with eight shutouts, a goals-against average of 2.30 and a save percentage of .922 in 103 games. He was 22-12-4 with five shutouts, a goals-against average of 2.20 and a save percentage of .920 in 2007-08 and 24-7-5 with two shutouts, a goals-against average of 2.16 and a save percentage of .930 in 2006-07 when he won the Ken Dryden Award as the top goaltender in the ECAC.
