Two-Year Deal Key for Marchant
The following article featuring former Clarkson standout Todd Marchant appeared July 7 on the Orange County Register Web site.

Veteran center Todd Marchant never made any secret of his desire to
remain with the Ducks, but he also wanted more than a one-year
deal.
It took a while, but Marchant wound up with the best of both
worlds Tuesday, signing a two-year contract that will pay him $1
million next season and $1.25 million in 2010-11.
An unrestricted free agent, Marchant accepted considerably less
money than he had been earning — an average of just more than
$2.5 million annually as part of a long-term contract he signed
with the Columbus Blue Jackets in 2003 — but familiarity and
security were well worth it.
