Faulkner Stays Involved on Bench, Despite Injury
The following article featuring former Clarkson forward Mac Faulkner appeared in the January 15 issue of The State.
Mac Faulkner has found a way to stay involved with the Inferno in recent weeks, even though he has been on the shelf with a knee injury. The likeable, hard-working forward is spending game days on the bench as an unofficial assistant coach to Troy Mann.
"I figured that if I couldn't be playing, I might as well see if I could help out by coaching," said the 24-year-old Canadian. "I've kind of enjoyed it, and I hope I've been a little bit of a help to Troy. He's letting me run the defense for him during the games, and I just try to be another set of eyes for him. It sure beats sitting up in the stands and feeling like you're not really part of the team."
Faulkner, who scored 17 goals and 50 points in 70 games with Columbia last season, was off to a promising start this season with six goals and 13 points in the first 21 games of the season before he suffered cartilage damage in the Mississippi game at home on Dec. 7.
