Patience Pays Off for de Concilys

The following article featuring Brown forward Joey de Concilys appeared December 23 on the St. Catharines Standard Web site.

Joey DeConcilys is a big-picture kind of guy.

The 18-year-old St. Catharines native has always put school before hockey, a decision that saw him forgo the opportunity to play for his hometown Niagara IceDogs in order to maintain his NCAA eligibility. As well, DeConcilys left the St. Catharines Falcons after a stellar rookie campaign as a 16-year-old to attend Salisbury Prep School in Connecticut in order to enhance his opportunities at the collegiate level.

Those decisions turned out to be 100% on the money as DeConcilys was offered an academic scholarship to Brown University, a prestigious Ivy League school located in Providence, Rhode Island.
