Mavericks Get Muncy
INDEPENDENCE, Missouri – Missouri Mavericks' Head
Coach Scott Hillman announced Sunday the Central Hockey League
(CHL) club has acquired forward Sean Muncy from the Rio Grande
Valley Killer Bees to complete the trade that sent defenseman
Dominic D'Amour to the Killer Bees.
Muncy, 26 (1/11/85), was second in scoring on the Killer Bees
roster with 31 points on 14 goals and 17 assists, and he will begin
his tenure with the Mavericks as the team's leading scorer. The
native of Chesterfield, Missouri (the same hometown of current
Maverick Derek Pallardy) will also come to the Mavericks as the
team's assist leader (17) and power play points leader with nine
(1-8=9).
"We are really pleased to have Sean join our team," said
coach Hillman. "He is another local Missouri product and we are
hopeful he will continue his offensive production with the
Mavericks."
The 6-foot, 185-pound forward, is currently in his second season
of professional hockey having played for the Rio Grande Valley
Killer Bees during his rookie season as well. He was called up to
the American Hockey League's Houston Aeros for one game this
season. As a rookie, Muncy had 47 points (14-33=47) in 61 games
played and finished fourth on the team in scoring. In total, Muncy
has 78 points (28-50=78) in 98 games for his professional
career.
Prior to turning pro, he played four seasons at Brown University
where he earned his degree in Economic Sociology. He earned the
highest grade-point average award from Brown during the 2008-09
season.
Prior to his collegiate career, Muncy played three seasons of
junior hockey in the USHL where he was awarded the team's Most
Valuable Player Award with the Waterloo Blackhawks during the
2004-05 season, and he earned the Community Service Award with the
Cedar Rapids Roughriders during the 2003-04 season.
Muncy is not expected to play for the Mavericks until their next
home game on Friday, January 21 against the Wichita Thunder at
Independence Events Center. The Mavericks are currently on the road
for a pair of games and will take on the Dayton Gems on Monday,
January 17 and the Fort Wayne Komets on Wednesday, January
19.
