ABBOTSFORD, B.C. -- The Vancouver Canucks appear to have benefitted from the hometown advantage, but not the discount, in signing college free agent Aaron Volpatti.
In the short term, the biggest benefactors may be the Manitoba Moose, who inserted the 24-year-old left-winger from Revelstoke, B.C., on Monday night against the Abbotsford Heat.
Volpatti, who just completed four years at Brown University in Providence, R.I., scored a goal and had a fight in his pro debut, yet another successful new-play introduction for the Moose.
