Volpatti has Mirror Image of Glass
The following article featuring former Brown standout Aaron Volpatti appeared in the March 31 issue of the Vancouver Province.
Aaron Volpatti nearly got the Gordie Howe hat trick in his professional hockey debut on Monday for the Manitoba Moose, in a 5-2 win over AHL rival Abbotford Heat.
The Revelstoke native convincingly won a first-period fight and scored a third-period goal when crashing the net, but couldn't quite achieve the assist necessary to qualify for the rare and mythic feat.
"The guys were joking with me about it, saying if I got a breakaway I'd have to make a drop pass," said Volpatti, whose new team took on the Heat again on Tuesday night at the Abbotsford Entertainment and Sports Centre. "Obviously, it's nice to get that first one out of the way. It's a little bit of a greasy one. But you like to get those ones first and hopefully build off that."
