Brown posted a 13-20-4 record last season under first-year head coach Brendan Whittet, including playoff upsets at RPI and Yale, a major improvement on the team’s 5-23-5 finish in 2008-09.

With the new season set to open Friday night at Yale, Whittet is stressing that while he was pleased with last year’s progress, he won’t be satisfied until the Bears are contenders –– not only in the Ivy League and the ECAC, but nationally, too.

“I told the guys, 13 wins is not what we want,” Whittet said before practice on Monday at Meehan Auditorium.
