In recognition of his efforts, Baier will be presented with an etched crystal trophy during an on-ice presentation prior to an upcoming B-Sens home game.
Baier is now one of 29 finalists for the AHL’s 2009-10 Yanick Dupre Memorial Award, honoring the overall American Specialty/AHL Man of the Year. The league award is named after the former Hershey Bears forward and AHL All-Star who died in 1997 following a 16-month battle with leukemia. The winner of the Yanick Dupre Memorial Award will be announced by the American Hockey League in the coming weeks.
Baier Named Binghamton AHL Man of Year
BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - The Binghamton Senators are proud to
announce that former Brown defenseman Paul Baier has been named the
team’s winner of the American Specialty/AHL Man of the Year
award for his outstanding contributions to the Binghamton community
during the 2009-10 season.
What makes Baier so special is that in addition to his numerous appearances on behalf of the Senators community relations and advertising obligations, is that he is also the first player to volunteer for an appearance as well as the first to fill in for fellow teammates when needed. Baier has volunteered for a variety of events to date, including those that have benefited The Family Enrichment Network, The Magic Paintbrush Project, U.S. Marine Corps Reserve’s Toys for Tots campaign and the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

Recently, Baier was one of three players to visit a local
dialysis unit. While there Baier spent time with each of the
patients listening to their stories and asking questions about
their lives and careers. He also spent time with the nurses on
duty learning about dialysis and how each of the machines
work.
Paul Baier is a generous, dedicated professional who truly
represents the meaning of commitment to his teammates, fans, and
the community.
