Muncy Remains in Rio Grande

HIDALGO, TEXAS — The Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees of the Central Hockey League (CHL) today announced that former Brown forward Sean Muncy has re-signed with the team for the 2010-11 hockey season.

The 25-year-old Chesterfield, Mo., native finished second in CHL rookie scoring last season and was named RGV’s Rookie of the Year. He finished fourth in RGV team scoring.

“Sean had a great rookie season and really developed his game last season,” Killer Bees Head Coach Chris Brooks said. “As the season went on, we looked to him in critical situations and knew we could count on him and his linemates to get the energy flowing. We’re counting on him to continue his progression as an impact player.”

A 6-foot, 190-pound Brown graduate, Muncy led all CHL rookies with 33 assists (14-33-47). He was named the South Texas All Star MVP at the CHL All Star Game after notching two goals and adding a pair of assists as South Texas beat the CHL All Stars 9-4.

Muncy played the majority of last season on a line with forwards Aaron Lee and Zak McClellan, both of whom have re-upped with the Killer Bees for the 2010-11 season.

He and defenseman Jake Obermeyer, who signed with RGV earlier this summer, were among the six players named to the 2009-10 CHL All Rookie Team.

“I’m excited to come back to the Valley and contribute as we try to bring a championship home to our fans,” Muncy said.
