Sibbald Adds Weekly Honor to List of Accolades
CHARLOTTE, NC - The Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL)
announced former Brown goaltender Mark Sibbald of the Huntsville
Havoc is the Sher-Wood SPHL Player of the Week for December
7-December 14.
Sibbald, who previously earned Sher-Wood Player of the Month
honors for October/November, posted back-to-back shootout wins as
Huntsville continued its early-season charge to the top of the SPHL
standings. In the two games, Sibbald posted a 0.93 goals against
average and a save percentage of .973.
On Thursday, the Ridgeway, Ontario native turned aside 30 of 31
Columbus shots in regulation and stopped two of four in the
shootout as the Havoc captured a 2-1 win over the Cottonmouths.
Sibbald continued his dominance in net by stopping 42 of 43
Pensacola shots on Saturday in securing his second 2-1 shootout
victory of the week.
Sibbald, who is in his first SPHL season after spending the
previous four seasons at Brown University, has given up two or
fewer goals in 10 of his eleven starts and is the league leader in
wins (10), goals against average (1.61) and save percentage (.951)
