Tim O'Connell said when he signed in December that he came out of retirement to help the Stockton Thunder's young players.

Last weekend, he had a chance to chaperon Dave Robertson through his first two professional hockey games.

Robertson, a rookie defenseman out of Brown University, debuted Friday against the Fresno Falcons, who the Thunder also played Saturday. Coach Chris Cichocki paired him with O'Connell, the defenseman and senior team member who has played 535 games.
